7th Seasonal Exhibition “The NAM Collection”
- Release Date:
Overview
The NAM showcases the history and culture of the Ainu people. As part of its mission, our museum conducts research on Ainu cultural materials preserved both in Japan and abroad. It also acquires materials through purchase, donation, and deposit and preserves them.
This exhibition offers a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes work involved in collecting and preserving materials—an aspect that usually remains hidden in regular exhibitions. By featuring items from the museum’s collection and incorporating interactive exhibits that allow visitors to directly touch replicas, we encourage dialogue between the museum, the creators, and the visitors. The exhibition aims to make Ainu cultural materials more accessible to the public while highlighting our ongoing efforts to pass this cultural heritage on to future generations.
